How this book came about - My Miraculous Healing (The short version)

Christian Author - Matt Smith & daughter It took me approx. 7 years to complete this Christian book and God miraculously healed me to enable me to finish it. I was unable to work for 3 years, struggling through life on morphine and other drugs, just to cope with the chronic back pain I had from a collapsed L5-S1 disc.

7 weeks before Christmas my wife came home with a prophetic Word from a pastor of another Church, who knew neither my wife nor I. This pastor had told her that I had been doing something for God for the last 7 years, and that God wanted it finished by Christmas.

So, despite my physical incapacity, my mind being clouded with chronic pain and drugs, and the fact that this potential Christian book was really only 1/2 completed (yes, it was one of those 'love' projects that probably never would have been completed otherwise), I got to work.

Unfortunately, I couldn't bare to sit at the computer for more than about 15 minutes at a time, and it took, sometimes hours, for the pain to subside back to a managable level.

"Pause" A Little Quick Background: The fact is, that nearly 3 years earlier I needed an epidural nerve root block, just so I could stand comfortably through my wedding day. Then, a week later, I had spinal surgery to remove part of the offending disc that was pressing on my nerve. Unfortunately, it was not very successful.

So, several days of this showed me in no uncertain way that without His help, I would never acheive this new mandate. So I stopped, and I cried out to Jesus, as I had done many times through the pain before.

The difference this time, was that it was He that had said I needed to finish this book by Christmas, and therefore I respectfully shifted all the responsibility onto Him, to ensure I was physically able to complete the task.

My desperate need for healing was no longer about me, or the extent of my faith, or any of the things others had hypothesised could be standing inbetween me and my healing. It was now very simple. 1 + 1 = 2 kind of simple.

If God wanted me to finish this book, then God needed to heal my back to enable me to do so. So I was able to give it up to him completely.

In my situation, this proved to be my key.

The next day I spent about 12 hours at my computer, stopping only briefly to eat, without ANY pain. The day after it was 13 hours, and the next day it was another 12. This went on until 2 days before Jesus' birthday, when I uploaded the final draft to the publishers website.

The following day was Christmas eve, and I was able to deliver my cover design that afternoon, so I even had a few hours to spare!

And I never had any more back pain from that time on.

Anyway, that's the really short version of my healing story. I didn't want this page to go on forever, but I thought you would appreciate part of my story, rather than all the superficial sales talk you could be reading.

But I should say something about the book

'Wake Up and Smell the Glory' is a Christian book of over 200 pages of easy to read, logical explanation of why the whole universe and everything in it MUST revolve around God and how this is absolutely relevant in today's world.

Designed not to talk down to anyone, like so many theological books seem to do, it is a picture, painted about Who God is, how obvious He is, and why having a diologue with Him is not only possible, but truly tragic to go without.

This book is my idea of Christianity 101, the basis or foundation of my faith and relationship with Jesus.

Does it challange the traditional, denominational and especially religious Churched thinking?

Of course it does; It wouldn't be too interesting otherwise, but it's grounded in reality, with about 300 Scripture references to keep it real and powerful.

My attitude is this; If you're only going to read one book in your entire life, then pick up a Bible, and forget you ever saw mine.
